Does Anyone know where to find some good inexpesnive material??
Hello All
I was searching on craigslist.com the other nite and found some really good deals on fabric like 8 tubs for around $30 bucks but I'm at times sort of leary of the conditoins of the fabrics that are in the totes/bags and where they had been stored...where are some good site and trusty places you all can recomend for me to find some more material for some of my premature blankets and baby quilts?? I've found a lot of great local stores but havent' had the time to go to them lately so just wanted to ask if anyone of ya can tell me anything for how and whereto find some good conditional fabric...
just wanted to ask yall fellow quilters

Like lorettav said, check out on this site the fabric frenzy and also look at the clearance fabric section. You might also check out the scrap bags on this site. You know they're going to be first class.
I would be hesitant to buy a tub of fabric without seeing it simply because it could have odors from long time storage or it could be smokey, both of which would be a problem for baby items. You certainly could take a chance and use what's okay from the tub. The other option, if available in your area, is yard sales--there you can see and touch and smell the fabric.
just some thoughts, hugs, carol/kittyquilt

Ashley, I used to buy alot of fabric on Ebay..but there are alot of retail sellers on there now...but there are some people that are selling from their stash, too...you just have to search! And pay close attention to the sellers "feedback".
Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about the fabric in tubs...as long as you look at it first. Almost always you can wash out any odors, etc. Heck, I wash ALL fabrics that I get that way...and most that I buy in stores, too. It comes into the basement and right in the washer first anyway.
Yard sales can be good too...same deal there...WASH.

If you're making lots of quilts and there's a fabric you really like, ask your local quilt shop if you can order a complete bolt at a discount.

Hi Ash,
First stop should always be right here (Frenzy in particular) for quilt shop quality and great prices! There's a sale going on right now so fabrics are $3.75yd (even less for 'clearance') and there's lots at $3.00yd at the 'Skinny bolts" section:
http://www.quiltinaday.com/shoponline/f ... ric=skinny
Other places to check are http://whittlesfabrics.com/
http://www.marshalldrygoods.com/
and Fabric.com (http://www.fabric.com/) where shipping is free if you spend $35.00 and there's always something on sale (lots at $3.95 right now)
Your local quilt shop might even give you a substantial discount (or donate) to charity projects, just ask. Many do.

Go to the on-line with Quilt in a Day. You can find the skinny bolts, and the sale that is on now is really hard to beat anywhere.
They are prompt, quick, kind in the ordering, and you will be satisfied with the results that you have sent. Try it,...you will like it. Hard to beat.

Please reconsider buying "cheap fabric". You put so much time and effort into your beautiful quilts. Cheap fabric usually has very low thread count and does not last long. You can depend on El''''s Fabric Frenzy Site to have Top quality fabric at very reasonable prices.

Since I want my quilts to last, after putting so much time a effort into them, buy fabric - good - on sale.
