i always sew mine on with machine then turn to the back and stitch by hand i have tried to do it with machine but i keep having places there are not sewed to the binding so im not doing something right rather than re stitching i just do it by hand wander what decorative stitch you girls use when you do it that way? maybe i should try that as it would give me a better chance of staying on the binding prehaps

Ladies,

I'm sorry to say that there sre some of us who have re so bad we don't have a choice of whether or not to do it by hand... I have to do everything by machine or I can't do it at all. I'm sure I'm not the only one with RA that belongs to the site, so anyone with any ideas using a machine to do a binding I love you. Thanks Sarah

Cindy - thanks for the referral to the Elmer's Glue binding method. It worked just great! Best binding I ever put on a quilt.

I also like to hand stitch down my bindings but when I have to do it by machine, I typically iron the binding down in the back and that is usually enough to make sure I don't miss any spots when sewing from the front. I do use steam for this.

I do mine by hand, my Mom says it gives it even more "specialness" and "from the heart" :o) They don't look all flat, they have a little wringle in them but when I look at my Great Grandmas and Grandmas quilts I have they look exactly the same......which means the world to me.
