Making a king size quilt
I am a beginner quilter and would like to know how many 9 1/2 in blocks do it take to make a king size quilt, or how can I find out how to calculate this. Assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Re: Making a king size quilt
King size dimensions are about 112 by 112 inches. Divide by your finished block size and that will tell you how many blocks you will need - if you come out with a partial block size in your division - just either go up to the next whole block or down. That is why I said the dimensions are about.
Good luck with such a big project - what block are you making?

According to my Eq6
If your finished block measures 9" ... you will need
11 blocks length by 11 blocks wide = 101" with no borders
OR
same as above and adding a 3" and a 5" border = 115"
OR
10 length by 10 wide with a 3" border and a 5" border = 106"

Re: Making a king size quilt
If you have the king size bed for yourself, measure how far down you want the quilt to go on either side, and top and bottom. We made one last year for our king size, but I wanted it to go to the floor on all sides but the top. So, it is big. I tied the quilt, and it has been just beautiful on the bed in the winter time. I just kept adding borders that matched with the squares that were already in the quilt until we got the size we wanted. It was fun, but really is warm in the winter.
