Storing quilts
Hi Ladies, Have not been on line in a while, lots of illness in the family. I have a question. How do you store your quilts. My son, a fairly new quilter, has a quilt to put in a show and we are wondering how to store it until the show, so that it does not wrinkle. Thank you in advance for your help

Re: Storing quilts
My suggestion would be go to your local Jo Ann's and get one of the empty tubes that they roll upholstery fabric on and cover the roll with acid free tissue and then roll the quilt on it. To further keep it clean - cover it up in a flat sheet.
Roll the quilt loosely - maybe even adding the acid free tissue paper as you roll it up.
Good luck and that is great he is putting it in a show!!

Re: Storing quilts
I was just on Judy Martin's website looking at pictures of her sewing room. She has her quilts hanging on skirt hangers in a closet. There's a close up picture at the bottom of the page.

Re: Storing quilts
Better late than never I guess. If you have a spare bedroom with a bed in it a nice place to put your quilts is on the bed under another covering, I kept 15 quilts on my guest room bed under the spread. I did put a cotton sheet over them before and I didn't stack things on top of the bed.
