I know some of you have shown interest in helping out with the "Stockings for Soldiers". The 2010 revised pattern and directions are located at the links below. My son & his unit received these when he was in Afghanistan last year. Judy sent out over 6,600 stockings to military units in Iraq & Afghanistan. You can make them now through September and mail them to Judy. Her contact information is on the website. - Shelly

Re: Stockings for Soldiers pattern now available
I think you are right - but I guess this pattern is the easiest to make. THe patterns have just been posted - I kept checking every couple of days or so.
I got some holiday fabric on sale in January and I collect red/white/blue and military fabric - so I have plenty to get started.
My plan is to make copies of pattern & directions and give them to local quilt shops to see if any customers are interested. Maybe the shop would do a mini-class that is free if students donate at least one stocking! Sounds like a good idea!
Also - I will do the same for my quilt guild with one difference. I will cut out the material, pattern and felt and put it with directions & pattern into a gallon baggie with the deadline for finishing it by the next monthly meeting. Then they hoepefully will make more once they see how easy it is!
ANyone have any other ideas to spread the word?
