batiks... Bali... I am confused

I have seen Batiks... and I have seen Bali pops.... I have even seen Bali Batiks..... are they really all the same thing and the "pops" is just the way they are cut?

Hoffman makes Bali pops and Bali Batiks..... do other companies make Batiks and Bali is a division of Hoffman?

I have often wondered the same thing. I love Batiks, so just have always gone where ever the work "BATIK" is.

I know that Moda makes batiks and there is another one called Timeless treasures that I think makes batiks. Bali is a name like Moda etc. I think The catalog from Hancock's Paducah has the largest display of batiks by companies and is very entertaining with a nice cup of tea. The "Pops" are 2 1/2 inch strips just packaged differently from the jelly rolls. I was just looking at them at the LQS and they are very nice.

These are just some of my findings but are definitely not gospel! LOL

Gotta get a few of those POPS for at least one of El's BOM patterns. Just have to wait and see which as they arrive.

Chriss, I know that Moda was coming out with some Batiks. I worked for a small lqs several months ago and I saw them.

I think Bali Pops is a marketing ploy, just like jelly rolls etc.

Chriss - all of the answers are correct. I just have to add that the Bali Pops strips are not cut evenly. They look really nice in the package but......I'll never buy them again. I'd rather cut my own - at least they'd be straight.

Now I'm going to look at the site you posted. I LOVE batiks and I don't care who makes them.

I also found some batiks here at QIAD - in the Boutique section on pages 9, 10, and 12. The green one is beautiful and only $4.50/yard, since it's 'green week'!
