I am making a quilt from Bali Pops - that's Bali batiks that are like a jelly roll. The fabric is cut in 2-1/2" strips. The strips come folded in half. The pattern says to cut this folded strip at:
2-1/2"
4-1/2"
6-1/2"
8-1/2" which takes up the entire strip IF the strip was 45" to begin with. Most are 44" to begin with and some are even less than that. And the strips are not cut straight either. So far I'm disappointed in my Bali Pops. Has anyone used them? If so, what experience did you have?
I'll let y'all know how it sews up.

Re: Bali Pops
Cindyg, I am glad I am not the only one. Disappointing. The grain really is disturbing. But, I thought of sewing at an angle, and that isn't good either. I thought maybe someone would just think I had too much. So, I feel stuck, and not really sure what I will do with this. Live and Learn?

Wow, thank you Ladies for the heads-up like sunsup said.
I got my Hancock's catalog yesterday and was really looking at the Bali Pops. I think I will not order any of those right now.

Re: Bali Pops
OK - it's not just me then. They did look wonderful as Sandy said and I'd been looking at them for quite a while and finally decided to go ahead and get them. Oasis, I love the Brenda Henning pattern I'm going to use but I'd have done better cutting the 2-1/2" strips myself. You'd think they would use one of those accu-cutters or whatever they are that you just run your fabric thru and it cuts strips. I don't know how accurate that would be either. But these strips are a sad sight. They sure blend well though! LOL LOL

Re: Bali Pops
You know, I'm almost believing that it's better to make our own bali pops (as well as fat quarters, etc) than to buy them pre-made/cut. I know many companies are very conscientious but that ones that don't care make it hard for the good ones.
