UPDATED 08/25/12

1. My name is: Melanie
2. Favorite colors: Blues, jewel tones, pinks, purples, yellows, greens, reds, pretty much all colors
3. Colors I don’t like: If I had to pick...olive green
4. Favorite style: 30’s reproduction, paisley, some novelty---love all things Christmas
5. Fabric dislike: ????
6. Quilt Pattern: hard to say
7. Applique: machine only
8. Quilting: machine only….would like to learn hand quilting
9. Favorite Candy: skittles, toffee, tootsie rolls
10. Hobbies: quilting, reading (guess reading is more of a pastime)
11. Pets: kitty named Barnabas Cutie (otherwise known as BC) and a kitty named Mittens; however, we call her Niblet (don't know why, but it seems right for her). Niblet doesn't have a voice which is wierd...she meows, but you only hear the sound of the air vibrating over her "voice box"....DH found her abandoned outside of a bowling alley. She probably didn't weigh a pound and was only a few weeks old. Sweetest little thing ever!
12. Like to collect: fabric, of course! Cherished Teddies figurines
13. Allergies: none
14. Wishlist: QIAD Double Pinwheel book
15. Tidbits about me: I am 51 yrs old; however, I still think the date must be wrong somewhere...I can't possibly be this old! LOL I have been married 34 years to a wonderful man who retired as a Command Sergeant Major after 30 years in the Army. Unfortunately, we both still have to work! We have three grown sons—34 yrs, 28 yrs, and 26 yrs. One precious grandson, Joseph, who just turned 6. We are both from KY but now live in WA…first time either of us has been to this part of the Country. It’s beautiful here, but the sticker-shock is something we still haven’t adjusted to! I have been fortunate enough to visit several different countries due to my husband being in the Army. We lived a total of almost 12 years in Germany, this last time for 6 yrs. I absolutely loved it and would move back tomorrow if I could! Scotland is also one of my favorite places. I have only been quilting for less than five years—actually, I guess I should say “piecing” as “quilting” would lead one to believe that I actually finish anything! Technically, I have finished three, but I have lots of UFO’s! LOL I work at McChord AFB as a supply tech for the Aerial Port Squadron...formerly worked in Finance as an Accounting Technician; however, that title is misleading as I had nothing to do with budget, etc…I handled civilian pay, and worked in the Finance Office in the Disbursing area. Sadly, due to "civilian realignment" my position was abolished, which is why I now work in supply--and, yes, I AM thankful to still have a job! I have worked at Credit Unions, hospitals, and one medical practice, so I guess you could say I have almost always worked with money or sick people! Either way, folks get crabby about both! LOL I am so looking forward to a time when my DH and I can both really retire!!!

We met on eHarmony best investment I ever made. All of my children are married & live around close except for one.
I am a Retired R.N. have had lots of jobs over the years. Became an R.N. after raising my family at the age of 44.
I used to do a lot of other crafts the only one I really can't seem to take the time or whatever is Tatting I love it have books just can't quilt master it.
We live in med to small town in the central part of KS. We have a Hobby Lobby but no Joann's or Hancocks here. Have two quilt shops.
I guess that about sums it up. I am happy with my life and enjoying retirement. My spouse is retired Air Force, he loves to read and play on the internet so that gives me time to sew. He enjoys my sewing, likes to make suggestions and go shopping with me for fabric.
I have been Blessed!

I am retired now, in my working years, I worked at a bank, then operated an embroidery business for 7 years from my home, sold out in 2002 and retired to RVing and fishing, and babysitting grandkids for a couple of years, etc. My wonderful husband and I have been married 45 years and I love him more today than yesterday, but less than tomorrow. Now this year we are full timing in our RV. I gave up my big sewing room and all the stash, all the extra craft supplies that were sitting around unused. Our son and daughter-in-law are buying our house and are storing a lot of things for us. Don’t know how many years God will allow us the health to live our dream, but we are enjoying every minute so far.

Favorite Store: I have a local quilt shop but I love Joanne's and Hobby Lobby for when we are back at our son's house or when we are in Texas.

I updated this Sept 26 to fill in some spaces I left blank when I first filled this out. Velda

HUGS, 💕 Vel
