Thanks, Sally.
I wonder if there isn't some way that El could include a piece of that cake with our pattern lol. I'm eager to see the "gadget" you're talking about.
I think I'll be working on my Crosses and Stars during the sew-in on Friday evening.........
I agree, let's try to get some pics of the crosses and stars posted--that's a beautiful pattern and doesn't look difficult following El's video and the written instructions in the pattern.
Happy sewing, everyone...............carol/kittyquilt

Stars and Crosses
Here's my first attempt. For me, this pattern has been like "Murphy's Law". Everything that could go wrong did plus a few of my own mistakes, like sewing to the wrong side of the background fabric. I finally hung the seam ripper on a string around my neck. That way I knew where it was. My first boo boo was to cut the diamonds 4" instead of 4 1/2". The eyesight is not quite as good as it used to be and I missed the 1/2" until I tried to put the diamond on the bckg triangle. (I plan to use these on a bit smaller size block). I had difficulty following the directions for "Sewing Four Quarters". I resorted to laying the block pieces out in a square (not on point) and then following the directions for adding the bckg pieces. Somehow I was getting the bckg pieces turned the wrong way between the table top and the sewing machine. Sally is right...this block is HUGE.

Bonnie, that is beautiful, I love the fabrics--can't tell a bit all the problems you had--sorry about that, but this one came out very nice. Are you going to make more blocks or make this a wall hanging.?
I'm glad you mentioned the problems you hade--always helps others to double check the directions and think about the things you did to make it come out so nice. thanks for sharing. carol/kittyquilt

Bonnie,
It's gorgeous!!!!!
I feel for you. Some days nothing goes right. This months block is really quite easy but I unsewed each 6" block 3 times (don't ask)--cut some thing too big, sewed same size squares to corers instead of 2 different one on step one, sewed the two 'halves' together backwards--should ahve gotten done but...It's really turning out cute. Think I'll make another with Oranges (for pumpkins) for Halloween! Might change the 'leaf' to look like a stem (DH thought my leaves were stems on the apples, he's right of course, doesn't look like a leaf, LOL)
Forget to take a pic, still need to sew on the corners (piecing is finished, just not attached yet!) and border, so I'll post a pic next weekend. Off to visit my new granddaughter tomorrow (born Friday)

Sallly and Bonnie, your quilts/blocks are gorgeous!!! I can't wait to get back to my sewing room and try these.
Bonnie.....for all the problems you had, the block looks wonderful. I like the fabric colors/print and your placements.
Sally.....thank you so much for your "SALLY REPORT". I really look forward to reading about our next project from you.
AND......I just received my "Apple" pattern yesterday. So everyone else should be getting theirs by next week. It looks like a fun table topper for the fall. I like Sally's idea of using some oranges and make them pumpkins for halloween and Thanksgiving.
I think the best part of this BOM is sharing our different ideas!!!

Good news all. This one really is a 'Quilt in a Day'. One down, one to go (next one will have the corners with fruit in 'up position (note bottom two apples, oh well...)
