I got EQ5 to learn how to use a computer.....My DH wanted me to learn to use the computer, but I couldn't find a reason to need to until I found this EQ. Then I upgraded to EQ6 a year or so ago.....I would recommend either....but I use the EQ6 all the time now. When I see a block or a quilt I like, I go to EQ and work out the pattern. If it is a block that I like, I draw it on the Easy Draw feature and then use it in a quilt. I seldom buy patterns anymore because they are so easy to design. Today I got Quiltmaker 7 which is a quilting design software that Electric Quilt Company sells on their website, that can be used with EQ6....you can put quilting designs on top of your quilt to see what would look good and then print off the patterns for the quilting.........it is amazing what can be done and I haven't even learned half of what the book teaches. I won't be updating to EQ7 because I think I have all I need with EQ6....it doesn't look to me like EQ7 has anything more that I need. Love it...can you tell???
