EQ6

Post by SCFQuilter »

I decided to treat myself and ordered EQ6!

It arrived yesterday and I have been working on Lesson 1. My plan is to work through the lessons in the book before I take a class through the online - Quilt University.

So far I am having fun... I haven't done much designing of quilts in the past but it interests me... =]

Does anyone else have the program? What have you designed with it?

I love EQ6. I bought it shortly after it came out and have kicked myself numerous times for not having bought EQ5 earlier.

I've done lots in EQ6. It would be hard to list everything I've designed. My favorite quilt is this one:

I bought it a couple of months ago, but haven't gotten too far. I work lesson one, then I'm away for so long that I start all over again. I've done lesson one three or four times, though. I put one of the quilts in there and then changed the colors several times to show DH how much different the same quilt looks with different color options. He thought the colors I used were horrible, until I explained that I did that for the visual effect. He thought that was really something. I'm thinking maybe this winter I will be more inclined to work on it. Of course, that's what I keep saying about my quilting, too. My girl friend, Corning, has bought it and put it under the tree, so we plan to spend some time getting to know it better after the first of the year. Maybe we can all learn together.

I have had EQ6 for since it first came out. I had EQ5 before that. (for EQ6 I just bought the upgrade) I love them both but EQ6 has a lot of features that EQ5 did not have.
When you ask about designing quilts I have to ask what do you mean by designing. I don't think I have ever created an original block although that can be done in EQ6. I have used the block design to make changes in blocks from the block library and I have used the block library to put together hundreds of quilts, all in the program, not made into actual quilts. It is so much fun. I have alomst every piece of fabric in my stash scanned into the fabric library so I can try out a fabric in a quilt.
Keep learning the program Debby. It will give you hours of pleasure and I think you will find it very helpful in many ways.

I have EQ5 and have been thinking about upgrading to 6. Comments have been made about it being a little more user friendly, which is what I want. I bought 5 while still working and just didn't have time to sit and learn. Now that I'm retired, maybe, just maybe I will have more time to spend on it.

Have Fun,

If you go here you can see some EQ6 designs and the quilt or tablerunner I made from the design.

OK I still can't get this to work as a ckickable but it workes as a copy past, it you want to take a look.

I really enjoy EQ6. I have had it for a couple of years and use it quite a bit. In fact I am using it to decide on the quilting of a quilt right now.

I haven't taken any of the EQ6 classes at Quilt University, but their classes are wonderful. I am sure you will enjoy it.

I got it last year and have had trouble learning it. I've never used a quilt program before. I did all the lessons, but when it came to trying to design my own quilt, I had a hard time. My DH is much better in it, but then he's a computer person. Geneva2, your quilts look great. Do you want to give me lessons? ;)
