Help!!!

Post by SuesQuilts » Wed Oct 28, 2009 6:32 am

Can someone please help me on how to attach triangles to a dimond shape. Do you just center the triangle the best you can, press then cut the dogears off? And if so what is the easiest way to do this. Sorry if this sounds stupid but want to know how to do it right. Thanks in advanced.

Sue, I hope I understand the question. If you go to ehow.com and check How to Sew Set in Seams (or Y seams) it may help you with what you're looking for.

I usually center the dimond shape on top of the triangle. leaving 1/4 inch. "dogear" on each end. sew with dimond shape on top. After sewing cut off the "dogear"

I think you are referring to "inset" seams or Y-seams.

Youtube has super great tutes on all things quilt-y! Y-seams included.

While Y-seams are not hard, they do require precision and concentration. Good luck and post us a pic! Amie :o)
