My 90 yr old Mom's Hand Quilting

Post by FarmChick » Sat Sep 12, 2009 11:18 am

I'd like you to see how my mom spends her days. Not a day goes by that she isn't sewing at her machine or hand quilting her projects--mostly small baby quilts, also neck comfort pillows (no picture of these).

This is a little whole cloth quilt she is working on and has almost finished. Just started it this week:

I first want to say how I look forward to your post each day..... And second that is great that your mother has something to keep her busy. Busy mind helps keep your mind sharp. My mother has early Alheimers and I am always trying to get her busy doing something....this would be a blessing for her.

-chick, this quilt is lovely! How can she keep her stitches so even? Maybe she should hold a class for all of us! Well, for me, anyway! I'd be embarrassed to show your mom MY stitches! But now I've got something to shoot for! mary z

Mir, she is awesome. My mom will be 90 next birthday.....She doesn't hand quilt anymore but will sew down all the bindings we give her to do. She will be going home to Florida next week.

Your Mom does beautiful work! I wonder if it is a case of using it or losing it? It being the use of one's hands. You can be very proud of your Mother's work!
