Some one asked about the fabric, I found it at the LQS its made by Westminster Fabrics.

The pattern is part modified ice cream cones and party hats from El's book, part pulled out of my head. LOL!

I am backing it with the left over pieces of the happy birthday and the birthday party fabric and binding it with a scrappy binding with all the brights I used for the checker board and the ice creams.

Carin......your birthday runner is so cute! Are you sure you want to give it away? I'd hate to see all your work thrown in the garbage or given to the dog. I say gift card instead!

I don't know. If you give it to him you may have to make all his kids one. I can't believe anyone with 5 kids could be so jealous especially when you are not hiding your friendship.
I would probably just send him a nice card.
I love the cherry on top of the cake.

Too cute ! Forget him and keep it yourself....LOL Just kidding. Better idea than a full quilt.

Take it from someone who knows first hand. If you are not the wife's favorite person, keep the table runner for yourself and give him nothing! HAHA

I think it would be good as a family gift. Then they can put it on the table for everyone in their family on their birthday.

Good thing you are not making a king size quilt. I have made 5 king size quilt bedspreads and I have a very small house to work in. I am in four different rooms making my quilts.

Good luck on your decision.
