second practice block learning to hand quilt

Barb, Your quilting is beautiful! And it will just keep getting better. Where did you order your wholecloth quilt? That will be my next project. I'm like you....don't want to have to mark a whole top. I'm doing a queen sized quilt now and it is just done on a grid. I mark it after I get it in the hoop. Makes it much easier. jan

There is nothing more beautiful than hand quilted stitches. You are doing a marvelous job. I started out trying to machine quilt, but found it too difficult. I now exclusively hand quilt and I am much happier with the final product. The process of hand quilting is very therapetic for me. Great job your ready for the real thing.

Thank you for your kind words. i am trying. i saw several places to order whole cloth quilts on line but i was afraid because i didn't know if the fab was a good quailty. i ask at my quilt shop and the owner said she had ordered several for other people . she has a site that only a business can order from, she said it was very nice fabric. i can't vouch for it as i haven't received mine yet. of course if it isn't nice i don't have to get it. she is really good about that.

Hi Barb, Yes hand stitching is so relaxing and I hand stitch too. Yours is so pretty. Go for the big quilt. Yes, they do take longer but, their is so many design's that you can work with that takes up alot of space. I like to try the Jean Browns way, (aunt becky) have you heard of it? I can't find the tool for it. I see some very pretty purple in your cabnet too. A very nice cabnet of stash!!! Thank you for showing us your nice quality of work and Happy Quilting.

Hi Barbara (girl), I use the aunt becky all the time. I'm really sold on Jean Brown's whole system. I bought the hoop, thimble and the aunt becky tool from Jean. Now I'm working on a queen size quilt and have been able to work on it off and on all summer. You can throw the excess material off your legs that way I din't smother in the heat. The thimble is really the key to making it work. I have tried my Roxanne thimble and it just didn't work as well. And the hoop has legs that hold your quilt up so you don't have to juggle it.
