There have been many forum members who initiated a Project From the Heart, collected the item(s) requested from those who chose to participate, and assembled the quilts. Sometimes the assembled quilt is sent out to be quilted by another; and other times the person who initiated the project quilted it and sent it to the recipient.

It may not be wise to "elect or "expect" one individual to collect blocks for a project or projects-- since the beginning, various QIAD members have volunteered to do such things. One of the beauties of the process. Linda Parker's recent posts on this topic are clear and to the point.

And of course, the projects are not always just quilts - sometimes Christmas stockings, pillowcases for troops, baby blankets, scarves, etc.

There are usually enough things going one for almost anyone to find a project to participate in. If I miss one, I know there will be another one before long.

I would add also that when someone undertakes to host or direct a project, she/he should feel free to ask for help if unexpected needs arise. Also, those who sign on to help could always offer to
send stamps, $$$ donations, batting, thread, etc. Or PM the host and ask what other way to participate.

I do think a format could be helpful... purpose of project, clear instructions, whether it is ongoing (like the Breast Cancer blocks)
or time-limited, and if it is "secret", the host should request to
be PM'd for details. This has been done successfully for a number of projects.

Just my thoughts on this.

Most of all, remember the good intentions, the opportunity to share
and the purpose.

Carol
