Oasis, I love your quilts. They must make the kids who get them very happy. I made 2 braid quilts for Christmas gifts a couple of years ago. It was really easy and the result is so sweet. Making an entire queen sized quilt will be lots of fun.
I got the fabric yesterday and think today will be day 1 in the process....

I put French Braid borders on a recent project and OMG, they look GREAT! More than worth the extra time spent putting them together, and sweating it out, worrying that I would run out of jelly roll strips! (I did need to piece some, but you can't tell because of the print.)

I have begun the quilt ... I will be making 4 braids. 2 2/3 done now. They are really turning out nicely. Like Cindyg said, they are not too hard. The hardest part is picking the fabric.
