John Flynn quilt back cut on the diagonal.
Someone in my guild was talking about the John Flynn way of cutting your quilt fabric backings on the diagonal. Has anyone tried it and how do you figure your yardage? The person in my guild said it takes less fabric cutting it diagonally?? Just wondering about it?

Hi Sharon, here is a link to the directions. It's about half way down the page.

I have used this method. It's great once you get it cut, but I always have to be careful when I cut fabric on the diagonal because I have a small cutting area and I try & fold the fabric. Yep, you guessed it, I fold it wrong.....

Hi Rick, thanks for the link. It doesn't sound too complicated. Have you used this method before?

I've used this method on several quilts. I 'cheat' and mark the cutting line and then go back and cut.
