bear claw pattern

am doing the Underground RR and the bear claw block is giving me a bit of a problem - it seems I can not get the 1/4 at the ends to join the blocks -

I had trouble in the past with the bear paw too... I learned you need to square up each claw before sewing them together... I also learned that it doesn't look like it fits BUT when you sew it together if you really read and follow the directions in the book it will work.....

I learned on this block especially, you MUST follow each and every little step Eleanor describes in the book. If she says, press, press; if she says measure, measure and make sure your measurement is correct each time; if she says square up, square up to the exact measurement. As Chriss said, if you follow the directions in the book exactly, it will work. carol/kittyquilt

Maybe a scant 1/4 inch seam would help?

Is your book an older one or the new version? I know there were some corrections posted somewhere for the older book but I don't remember if the bear claw was one of the patterns that needed corrected.

I've worked on this UGRR quilt going on my 3rd year ......I hate it nothing comes out right !! Today I'm home alone all day going to try
again, didn't even get to Bear Paw yet LOL
