New Guy on the Block

Post by Archie-C » Fri Apr 03, 2009 4:38 am

Hi, I am the new guy on the block, my wife and I have been looking at long arm quilting machines for ever since 2005 trying to decide on which will be the best for us. Which will serve us the best, and which we can afford. So now we are thinking of the BL-Jewel on the Grace Pinnacle Frame.
If any one who has one can help us out, my main two questions are, (1) Are the rails strong enough not to sag due to the fact that they are joined together (two 5’ rails joined together), and what is the finished quilt size in inches that can go on the machine.(2) what is the over all size in inches that can be quilted
I am a new quilter, and want to quilt all the quilt tops that my wife has done and now even the quilt tops that I am done since November 2008.
Thanks
Archie

Welcome Archie. You are up in the panhandle I believe.

The Jewel is new so I don't know how many people will be able to answer questions about it. The Grace frame should be easy to get some answers on. I can't help you because I have a HQ-16 with their studio frame.

You will have to post pics of your quilts in the photo section.

Yes Cindy we do live in the Panhandle 50 miles north of Amarillo.
In Amarillo one sewing machine shop does sell the Jewel on the Pinnacle frame, but they have it on a 3' size frame. And they really do not know much about the Pinnacl frame because it is so new for them as well.

Jana, thanks, I look up their number and try to call them.

Hi Archie,

If you are looking to buy a machine quilting set up, I would suggest going to a show where you can test drive LOTS of them & ask the vendors lots of questions. There is a HUGE machine quilting show in Kansas in May. That would be my suggestion.

Good luck & keep us posted :)

HI Archie! I have a BL Jewel, but I am also new at this. I decided on this one bc it fits me. I have mine on the 10' frame with no sagging of quilts on the roller bar. I'm sure Grace would answer any of your questions. Also, if Kansas City isn't close enough, and you haven't been yet, go to the Houston Quilt Show; this year, it's in mid-October. There you can test drive all of the machines. Usually, there's a show deal as well. Good luck.
