Need thread recommendation

Post by Stargatefan »

This is a picture of the layout of a quilt I'm making for one of my nieces. My question is - what color thread do I use for the actually stitching together of the blocks and then in the ditch?

Maybe this would help... ;-) Oh and please ignore the junk - right now my sewing room is also the junk room. :-(

Stargatefan, I usually use gray when sewing blocks together....either light or dark...unless I'm working with a lot of white. For quilting in the ditch, variegated??????? I don't use a lot of different colors, so someother else will have a better idea.

Wow, that's a pretty quilt!

I use neutral colors for all piecing, either a grey or a beige tone. I rarely use white; usually the off-white works better.

For stitch-in-the-ditch, you could use a neutral, or the invisible thread...OR get some variegated thread in bright colors if you are feeling adventurous! YLI makes a variegated machine quilting thread labeled "Brights" that might be just what you are looking for!

I also use a neutral to piece with - either gray or tan and I have several shades of each from light to dark. I use what ever is closest to the fabric shade I'm using. I agree about the 'brights' varigated thread to stitch in the ditch with.
