Batting and 9 patch block

Hello, have a ciuple questions. I have some batting that I bought from my ex sister-in-laws husband when she passed away. It is the kind of poly-fil that we used to use or that they srill have in the stores. Well I was told not to use them anymore that you use warm and natural or quilter's dream etc. so what do I do with all the batting I have? Also am making a baby blanket and it has 9 patches in it and triple rails well my 9 patches some of them don't match , like a 9 patch 2 match and the other 2 don't like OFF. Hoe do I fix this? Who said you couldn't use it anymore? A cotton batting salesman? LOL. Use it! Poly batting is perfectly fine for quilts.

If your nine patches are matching it could be your seam allowance is not accurate. You may not be sewing exactly 1/4 inch on all seams.

Jan, I've used the poly batting in everything I've done except for my DD's DWR quilt. I don't see anything wrong with using it if you are not trying to do a traditional heirloom quilt. Like sewbug said, my seams don't match up when my seams are off from the 1/4 even a little bit. Sometimes they get off quite a bit when my nerves go bonkers, lol. Then I have to unsew everything and start over.

Jan, use whatever you want to use.. there is nothing wrong with that batting at all... they have just come out with other types of batting which some love and some don't love.... you use that stuff up and it will keep you plenty warm...

I use poly all the time since I hand quilt. Who would tell you such a thing? Cotton batting has become very popular since machine quilting has become popular.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with poly batting. If I had some, I'd use it without batting an eye.

Thanks girls, I will use my batting. I like the other but have quite alot of the poly fil. Have another question. I have those yellow quilt pins and I was told they aren't any good, true????

You tell the quilt police to go bother someone else. The yellow pins are perfectly fine for pinning fabric.

Jan if a pin is sharp, doesn't have any rust on it, use it. It does not matter what color of head it has. Some people may prefer thinner pins than others. I use the ones that have the yellow heads for piecing all the time. For applique I use a much thinner pin and it is much shorter too. Hope this helps.
