Re: Nautical Baby Quilt
The pattern that I used for the flags and the 3 appliques are from a pattern called, "Boats Afloat". It has alot of different applique boats so I just picked three that I liked and designed this arrangement myself.
The baby's parents wanted a red, white, and blue nautical theme...and this was out of my comfort zone...I had always made pastels for babies!!
The white around the sails is just a very tight zig zag and fairly wide. After I quilted and washed the quilt the sail appliques started to come off! So I just zig-zaged them again, using a wider pattern. It turned out really cool! So you could just do any decorative stitch and use it as the quilting...
At the same time that I was making this, Gmaann posted her nautical quilt with the name spelled out in flags! I had no idea! If you do a search for "nautical" above, you can find her quilt...it is beautiful!
Thanks for all the wonderful compliments!

I love love this quilt! How did I miss this one? WOW! You did a great job on this! Very nice. I love the fact that the child can use it as he gets older too. What a neat idea for the name to be put on the flags. And what are the odds that you & Ann were working on the same thing without knowing about it? LOL OMG! That is too funny! LOL Sure do love your quilt! Thank You for sharing.

I love your Nautical quilt, Joanne! Wasn't it fun to personalize it by putting the names in nautical flags?
