Does the batting have anything to do with how you quilt your quilt?

Some types of batting require the quilt be quilted more densely...does that make sense?! The machine quilting prevents the layers from shifting and bunching up and adds visual interest.

For example, Warm and Natural batting needs to be quilted at least every 8-10 inches per the manufacturer. Other types of batting might need to be quilted more.

Gack...coffee hasn't kicked in yet...I hope this doesn't sound like insane rantings!

I use 3.5 on my machine to quilt. 2.0 to piece.
Like Carolj said, read the directions on the batting package for space between stitches.
Good luck!

That really helps a lot. I am so glad that you used warm and natural in your example because that is the batting that I love to use. Now I am going to go mess with my machine and check out the settings. Thanks again, Erica

Erika, I love Warm and Natural. Easy to use and breathable but warm. Goes through the machine like buttah!
