I don't know the pattern but it sure is beautiful. I can't imagine how long it took to hand quilt it. It really is pretty.

This quilt is gorgeous! You are so lucky to have this. You better get that insured under your homeowners insurance. You can get it appraised at a quilt show and get it certified for your insurance company. Amie )

Suzette, I cannot help you with the pattern but you have quite a treasure there! Please do take quilterbee/Amie's advise and get the quilt appraised and and insured! Ask your LQS for info on where to take it to have it appraised. You will be amazed at the info an appraiser will be able to give you about the quilt. This is a beauty! Whoever did the quilting did an awesome job! I could sit and just stare at this pic. LOL Thank You so much for sharing. Gee what eye candy!

Kinderosa, My grandmother was born in 1892 and quilted until shortly before she passed away at 99. I know many of her quilts were lined with old worn out blankets. Many of the baby quilts she made for all the great grandkids were lined with pieces of flannel or lightweight blankets. The old featherbeds were made from feathers. I remember several my grandma had at her house. I loved to sleep under those and so did my kids when we visited. Not sure where all those are now.

Suzette, you have certainly peaked everyone's interest in old quilts. A quilt show I attended a few yrs ago in AZ had one room filled with very old quilts. Some were identified, others just for show. No one was allowed to touch them. What a view into our past. All the machine stitched ones today can not compare to the handmade quilts of our ancestors.

I had a friend in KCMO who showed me a quilt her MIL had made. She was totally blind when she sewed it entirely by hand. She felt the material and made it into small blocks and stitched it together. It was a fairly large quilt and very well done. I was shocked when I saw it. What a wonderful project. Quilters never give up.

Looks like the Ohio Star quilt block.....but back in those early years, they usually would take a block and then make their own design layout with it. It's a beauty!
