Sandy, I have no idea how to embroider (with or without a machine) but I loved the frog and the corgi. Don't give up! They are sweet!

Wee, I'm thinking you shoulda stayed up here! It hit somewhere around 75 today! I had even (finally!) taken off my hoodie at school. Been a long time, people thought I lost weight!

Mgrammy, sorry about the DH. It sucks when you have no control over jobs. A lot of my students have parents who've been out of work, its so stressfull. Should I send you more ugly to help cut down on the heating bill? j/k...kinda.....

Chriss - I am so sorry your DH is out of work again. I know you both thought the job would last longer than it did.

Sandy - I knew right away that was Corgi (they are so cute) but I can't say that I've ever seen a striped one. Keep up the good work.

Ann - I know you will have a blast in Pidgeon Forge. Take plenty of pics.

Roben - I hope you find a job soon and one that you will be very happy in. I can't imagine myself working at a different place. I've been at my job for almost 29 yrs. and the thought of job hunting scares the bee-jeebers out of me.

Momof6 - it's fantastic that someone has commissioned you to make a quilt. Keep us posted about it.

Brenda - I've quilted a king size on my domestic machine. Notice I said "a" and in "one". After that my king and queen size quilts got sent out to a long arm quilter.

I took the day off today but had no fun at all. I was at the Diagnostic center at 7:00 this morning for my mammogram. Then I went to my OB/GYN for my annual check-up, then to my opthalmalogist Ieyes got dilated), and finally went to the dermatologist. My neck always gets sore from mammograms and it's already hurting; tomorrow will be worse. The cataract in my right eye is now bad enough that insurance will pay for cataract surgery which I will postpone until next year because DH is spending $8,000 next week at the dentist (YIKES). The dermatologist looked at a couple of spots that have developed - they are not cancer but he'll remove them if I want him to as well as a cyst that is just there but doesn't hurt. He told me I am getting wisdom spots. I asked him if they were the same as old age spots and he laughed and said yes. I got home about 3:00 and took a well deserved nap. Why not, I couldn't see to cut fabric anyway. So it has been quite a day but the good news is that I killed 4 birds with one day off today. So unless there's a problem with the mammogram, I'm good to go for another year (except for my appts. with the cardiologist). YEA!

Sandy, I had the same problem with a design yesterday. I wanted to use the varigated gray/black for hair and it looked more like a skunk when I was done...live and learn.

It seems odd to me that the varigated thread would come out like that oh well like ya said live and learn.

The next one I am ggoing to send to the whole design at once and see if that elimantes the lines.

I am determined to get this down....

Cindy - That is a lot of poken and prodden for one day. It is no wonder you needed a nap.

gmaann, I took the Cotton Theory class at Road to California this last Jan. with Sally C. I recommend it highly. Betty Cotton and her staff ( daughters) were very helpful. We took an all day class and finished a tablerunner with an embroidery design and reversible and quilt as you go. I don't think I'd do a large quilt but I'd certainly do wallhangings, placemats and tablerunners instead. I say "go for it" you'll enjoy the technique.
