ALL OVER QUILTING: Too Stiff?

If you quilt a design all over the quilt, does it make the quilt too stiff? I have heard this can happen.

If you quilt close together it will make the quilt stiff, particularly if you use the clear thread. I like to quilt with cotton or rayon thread top and bottom and the quilts are always cuddly soft.

The closer the quilting or more heavily quilted quilts tend to get a bit stiff. If you do an all over meander and use the cotton thread you should be ok. Make sure you read the instructions on the kind of batting on how close you need to quilt so the batting will not bunch up on you after washing. Different types of batting have different requirements.
