When to quilt?

Post by Mahoney1 » Sat Feb 21, 2009 3:29 am

I am very new to quilting. I am assembling the quilt top. Then I will bring it to the shop to choose a backing. Do I quilt the piece before I do the binding or after?
Thanks for your help.

You quilt before you bind.

After you have it all quilted, you may want to measure it & trim it or square it up, before sewing your binding on. I measure sev. times before I ever cut.lol I had to learn that the hard way.

Thanks for your tips, I really love to sew. I used to make my suits for work, daughters prom dress etc. I know I will love quilting-by machine!!!
