The Cheerios is a good idea, he might get sidetracked if they have color! Might need to do this for DH too:)
Cooking lunch now, we're having BLT's. DH got called into work about 930 this morning, and isn't coming home for lunch. I sense a nap for him coming on this evening!

Break time again....
BarbieJean and grammiequilts, thanks so much, it's so good to be back again. The past 2-1/2 months since my dad passed have been, well, difficult. It affected me differently than I'd thought it would, too. I feel like I've been in a fog, going in slow motion and rather numb. I've hibernated to my sewing machine because that's the only place things felt "normal" and made sense. I don't know if it was an escape and I haven't been dealing with the grief, or if it's still to come or what, but I haven't seemed to be able to move past that numb feeling yet. In any case, I have really really been missing ya'll a lot lately and want to get back to my friends again. I have really missed the Sew-Ins where we'd stay up late and laugh and joke and just let loose and have fun. Why don't we set a date, maybe this weekend, and make hot chocolate, cinnamon toast and get in our warm pj's and have another of those "pajama parties" like we used to?! It's been too long and I miss it.
Quilter7, the book Joanne recommended is A Single Thread by Marie Bostwick. It's about quilters and it is such a wonderful book.
grammiequilts, thanks for the kind words! I'm avoiding housework because I'd rather be sewing! LOL! It's funny, the house gets cluttered and it doesn't seem to phase me, but I don't mind tidying up my sewing room one bit! It's fun to clean the sewing room because I'm surrounded by cotton and you KNOW the curative powers of cotton! ROFLOL!
I am cracking up about little boys "aim"! I raised two boys and haven't thought of that in years! LOL! My youngest was very small for his age and when he was 1-1/2 yrs. old he literally refused to wear diapers anymore and trained himself. Well, he didn't want to use the potty chair, he wanted to be like a big boy and stand at the "real" toilet. Problem was, he was so short! I finally got a small step stool for him to use, more than once he took a dive into the toilet, but he was insistent upon using that stool. LOL!
Ok, breaks over, back at it...I'll be back with a progress report in a bit.

GP - Yes! Yes! Let's have a really great sew-in! A couple weeks ago on a Tuesday we had one, it was sooo wonderful! We had such a good time. It just made me miss the really good ones from last year though!
Thanks for the name of the book. I haven't been reading a lot lately, but I still want to. I have been saving my eyes for sewing. If it gets to a choice I will listen to books on tape. I think I over did it yesterday and will need to give my eyes more breaks today!

BarbieJean - Experimental Aircraft, now I get it. Yes, I imagine there are people traveling with the pilots who would love to see something different than an airfield. My DH is a private pilot, but he is not into experimental aircraft. If we were in Oshgosh you had better believe I would be looking at the quilts!! LOL

Re: wednesday 2/18
Good afternoon, ladies!
I tried to post on here once yesterday, & it wouldn't let me, so I gave up. Can't even remember what I was posting about, or for, now, lol. Yahoo has acted up here the last two days, but seems fine today. It figures, cause tomorrow we are suppose to get some high winds & snow, so we will be having some of that blowing snow someone mentioned at their place today. They talk like we won't get much, but looking at the weather map, it's coming right down our way, so they may be wrong & I think we might get hit more than they are saying. Course, tomorrow is stamp class, so it looks like I won't be going to that either, but that's okay, & they may postpone it till next week. Good time to stay home safe & quilt, or whatever. I have been doing some neat little star blocks from the quilterscache site & like them so well, I decided to go there & find some more I like, so did that a bit ago, & now I just need to print some more off. Wish that cleaning bug would come for a visit here, just not in mood, or don't have the energy right now, so not getting as much done as I would like. Oh well, maybe next week, right!
GP, good to see you posting again, great having you back among us!
The little boys & Cheerios made me laugh, I raised a son too, so I hear ya!
I am having fun with my new sewing machine & learning as I use it, so this way I remember! I did a bit cleaning & decluttering in my studio, to make room for her, now if I was just that ambitious with the rest of the house, lol, fat chance, right!
Good to see everyone chatting & let me know when you plan this all nighter or whatever & maybe I can join in for a bit!
Enjoy this day, everyone!

Re: wednesday 2/18
Well, awhile ago I started to respond to everyone and wrote a BOOK, then I refreshed the page to see if I missed anyone new and POOF!!!! All GONE!! LOL! So I just went to the sewing room and finished the birthday blocks for teacups. So there!
Now I'm so far behind on here I'll just talk!
Peach, when my mom died I luckily had a quilt in the frame, hand quilting it. It was a godsend for me...and like you said, it was the only time I felt "normal" and grounded. Sewing does that for me, when things get stressful (mostly when I was still working) or sad, I sew and quilt and everything just seems to fall into place. Grief takes different forms for different people and that was my grieving process.
I'm glad you liked that book! Someone on the books thread mentioned it. Not sure if that author has done any others...if you find out, let me know!
Barbiejean my DH needs the cheerios!!!
beccasmom the dust in the bedroom is because we "shed" more in the winter...at least DH and I do, 'cause we're OLD! LOL!
Q7 I can't wait to see that red and white quilt! Petal to the metal!! LOL!
Hey, Peach, how long a break does your chiropractor recommend??? My chiropractor tells me the same thing...don't do ANYTHING very long. After 20 years of back trouble, I already know that.
JW I had a grandmother who raised me that believed the ONLY way to clean a floor properly was to get down on hands and knees!! lol! And to this day, I believe it! Therefore, I don't clean the floor very often! lol!
grammie, yesterday, when I was on my cleaning spree, I did it all in the morning...probably before my body REALLY knew what I was doing! lol!
fabricgirl isn't it awesome to get a new "toy"!! Enjoy!
Ok, I ALMOST hit the refresh button to check for new posts...caught myself just in time! lol!
