Re: Good Morning 2/09/09
BarbieJean - You asked about the Quilt University classes. The classes are posted on Friday after 6 P.M. EST. You can pick it up any time at your convenience. There is a discussion group with each class (as well as the general one in Student Commons). In the discussion group you introduce yourself to the class, ask questions and the teacher will answer. There is also a gallery where pictures are posted. (You e-mail the pictures following the instructions to the dean and she posts them in the gallery.) I have taken several classes and have had excellent responses from the teachers in a timely manner. I enjoy the flexibility the classes give me to take the class when it is convenient to me. Be prepared with lots of paper and ink for your printer. I think it will be so much fun to have people I know taking the same class!! I have signed up for it already. Carol

CArin--you could just leave the other kids at school they have to go back tomorrow anyway
Q7-I am planning on doing a Quilt University class this spring. Karen Combs is doing one and I love her non-traditional play with color. It will be fun to see the projects all of you do with machine embroidery.
and....the Long Beach catalog will be out soon
we have had hail twice this morning here in Orange County...followed by a downpour then sunshine and rainbows...what a weird weather day

Carolyn - It has rained off and on here today, but no hail. The wind is really blowing here now. I just came back from the post office and the ocean is really churned up with lots of white caps. It is 56* and feels really cold.

Carolyn - Carol Miller is a great teacher! I have taken two of her classes. She was listed in the "Quilter's Companion" book as one of the top teachers. Did you read the information about the Jane Was Nuts class. It is really interesting.

The Dear Jane quilt is very interesting and the class sounds great. Every time I go into Bears I look at the one they have in progress on the design wall... It could be fun to try I love to paperpiece so I keep thinking about trying a few blocks.
This is the one I want to do

Carolyn - I checked out the class description and it is no wonder you would like to take it. I bet you wanted it this weekend to help with those y-seams:
Visual depth has fascinated artists for centuries. They had to achieve their magic by meticulous shading, but you have the world of fabrics to do the work for you. Karen has developed a quick and easy rotary technique that allows you to make quilts with a 3-D look. Frankly, this is Karen's favorite class because it is so easy to create truly amazing quilts of illusion. Learn her secrets for perfect Y-seam piecing in this three lesson class. You will become a Master of Illusion! Intermediate level.
