When I was making an applique quilt from a pattern, the directions had a great idea. They were referring to white fabric on a dark background. You fuse the white fabric onto another piece of white fabric...makes it double, so you can't see through it! I'm thinking that if some of the charms are thin fabric we could fuse that fabric onto another piece of fabric to make it "thicker"...like if the background of the charm is white or a light color, use white underneath.

Oh, these candies/cookies for this swap sound so cute! Can't wait to get the charms!

I've been up to my ears in little heart blocks today for Cyber-Sue's quilt! Got the blocks arranged on the design wall and cut out the sashing, have one row sewed, it's going to go quickly, I think. Anyway, having fun with it.

Daisy and I are sitting here wrapped in my wonderful quilt made by QIAD Angels, oh goodness it feels so good and is so pretty! I've finished and mailed off all my swap committments and now it feels so good to be back gabbing with ya'll!

Joanne that is a great idea for using light fabrics. I saw some cute candies that were very light fabrics

sewcarolyn, those chocolates are so cute! Mine are randomly scattered on a pink background, so they're different from yours.

Joanne, great idea about the fusing so it doesn't show thru!

I guess we should start thinking about some dinner. I have been sewing and John has been working on his class syllabus. He is teaching a graduate level class this semester at Chapman University and is having fun planning it.

Pam, I'll bet it's fun putting that quilt together for Sue...I'm sure all the blocks weren't "uniform", but when I did the T-shirt quilts and used sashing it was really not hard, even though all the blocks were slightly off size because of the design or wording on the t-shirts. Some were as much as 3/4 inch difference! I just made the sashing wider...it wasn't even noticeable! Using the cornerstones kept it all together.
I can't wait to see that quilt finished!!

I think alot of the novelty fabrics are on pretty thin fabric, but this fusing could be a way to use them (I Spy fabric, too) all and still have them look nice in a quilt.

Can't wait for the charms!

Lori - Glad for your quick action to call the fire department! Let the experts handle things! Now, do you have a car to drive?

Those candy/cookie fabrics sound really cute!

Thanking CindyG's basting method I have almost completed basting a quilt today!! Yeah!! Maybe I will get it done by the end of January after all!
