Good Morning All

Just checking in before I get ready to start on my TO DO list!

Sewsew... congrats on you DD's wedding. I've made a simple wedding dress and it was just a tad stressful, but fun too. In 1982 my sis was engaged and I made her dress--it was a white satin fitted "under dress" with a lace over dress. Never finished it tho, as they called off the wedding just before the invitations went out! I had it hanging around for years, not sure where it went now.

WE, hope you feel better soon too. It's definately cold season up here too, as it's been going back and forth at work. We have a Purel dispenser and we've been going through quite a lot of it!

Peach.. Bill does laundry????? My DEX wouldn't have even known how to turn the knob on the machine!! Oh wait I take that back... he did wash some towels once, but spent an hour or more angry with me that he had to wash towels on his day off from work! Now you know why he's an EX!!!

Carolej... how fun to be building a house.... I keep thinking I'm going to apply to EXTREME MAKEOVER!!

Well, time to get butt in gear and hit the chores so I have lots of sewing time!!

Have a wonderful day every body!

Maryq, my ex has your ex beat! He couldn't even light the gas stove!! lol! My DH now can do it all! Amazing...but, he was a widower..and had been his wife's caregiver for 4 yrs. so he really had to learn to do it all. But, he says that even before that he would even iron his little girls dresses! They had 5 children, so he helped alot! I lost a "frog" and remarried a "prince"! lol! It only took 18 years to find him! lol!

CaroleJ - It is so much fun to see the Red-Tail Hawks. We had a nest in the neighbors tree last summer with two chicks. They perched in our tree to feather their kill. I certainly learned their call. (psee-psee). Have you ever read "Frightful's Mountain"? It is a wonderful book! I also have a picture book by the same author. I have learned so much about raptors from it.

Well, I thought I was so smart getting up early, only to find out y'all have been up and sewing WAY before me! I think I'm catching up on my sleep from conferences this week. The latest night was Thurs, we were in school from 6:30am to 8pm!

So when I thought I got up early, really it wasn't...and somehow I have only one DS today...my DH's three boys don't come over until we go to church today, and my oldest is on a Klondike camping trip. They actually were praying for below 0 weather. brrrr! And do you know what happens when you usually have 5 kids and then have only 1? I will be lucky to turn my machine on! The DS I do have today has planned a tea party, brownie-making, time on the microscope, game of rumicube, trip to the store, and finishing his derby car.

I will try to check in later! Stay warm.

I got up and told Em that I was putting her quilt aside for a few days! I put together a Wintertime wall hanging swap I did on another forum, this morning. It looks good. Now I'm going to get those 6 blue geese done for the calendar swap here. I have a few things to finish up then I'll get back on to Shakespeare.

Have a nice day,
Vicky

Wow, it's a busy place here today. Glad to see so many chatting! I'm anxiously await Quiltnewby05, she called just a little while ago to say she was headed for the highway. Yippee! Company & a friend to talk "quilting" with, what more could one want? Still a little unsteady on my feet but can't wait till the appt on Monday....maybe I'll get some long awaited answers. Cynthia is going to help me with my URR #2, so I don't fall too far behind. Talk to you all later, hope you have a great day. Ann......congrats on DD's upcoming wedding, can't wait to see the dress......you'll do a wonderful job.
CaroleJ.....you're almost living in the boonies, huh? We've got a female turkey that walks down the middle of the driveway, stops to look in the front window & then feeds at the bird feeder by the side of the house. She's so fun to watch.

Ann... congrats on the wedding... I wish I had the talent to make a wedding dress... heck, I can't even make a moo moo...

We, you are too funny... hope she likes the tote

Pam, glad you had enough hearts to make the quilt... but I am not surprised.... Sue is a great person....

Debbie, can't wait to see your dresden plate, it is one of my favorite patterns... bet it will be beautiful..... I would love to see a pic of the flee year old GS... bet eh is adorable.

gmaann... take it easy... have a super sew day.

I was then wasn't going to a quilt show about an hour away from me today... it has been raining since yesterday and I don't care to drive in the rain.... but DH this morning said he could drive me... that we could have breakfast then go to the show...after telling him how bored he'd be and his insisting it was going to be fun I decided to let him take me... it might be fun to have him along and if we leave early I will have learned my lesson....

I need to finish my barn block, my Vicky block, and make a 6 1/2 inch star... I am confused about the star... is 6 1/2 the finished size? or is 6 inch the finished size? does anyone have a hint to where I start looking for a pattern to make this block... help... I am once again clueless.

hope you all have a fun day....
Chriss

Chriss - if you have either the Underground Railroad book or the Victory Quilts book, there are good (Eleanor Burns) directions for stars. The finished size is 6", so the unfinished size is 6 1/2".

OR - maybe even better yet - you could look at the 1941 Nine Patch video on the Media Theater here - that's the star block from the Victory Quilts book. You could 'sew along with Eleanor'!
