What is the verdict??
Between the Jewel long arm and the HQ 16?? I have been wanting to get an HQ but space is an issue right now. Has anyone compared the differences between the two machines? Is there a huge cost difference? I have not seen the Jewel in person, but one of our local dealers has it advertised. I like the fact that it has the stitch regulator. Please send any comments.

I haven't seen the Jewel but I understand it is more pricey than the HQ16. BTW the HQ16 has a stitch regulator if you want it. I think the Jewel has a couple of inches more throat space.

I love my HQ 16. I am not familiar with the jewel. You can adjust the lengh of the HQ table to meet your needs. You only need it extended to do large quilts.,

I got to try out a Jewel after I purchased my HQ. The only difference is you have 2 more inches with the Jewel as far as throat space goes. As for that everything else, its pretty much the same. I would go with the HQ fiancially. Oh the frame is also different. The frame with the Jewel was better than the HQ in my opinion. I have done king sized quilts on the HQ with no problem at all. The additional space didn't make much of a difference.

I saw the Jewel long arm at a QS....it is very nice. It is in same category as the HQ16. I agree with all of the above info. you all wrote. It is pricey....well over $8,000. The HQ16 is a good long arm and not as pricey. The Jewel and that frame will handle King size quilts or smaller ones. Both will do that.

Well my next question would be, do you think it would be a good thing to purchase the HQ16 at the Paducah show rather then a local dealer? Last year it seems like they had a good deal if you could take the head with you. We were flying so that was not an option, but we are thinking of driving this time. This may be the best opportunity for me to purchase one, if the price is a good one.

Where in Fl are you? Did you go to the quilt show in hudson last year? They had the HQ 16 up and I got to try it and I just loved it! The price was great too! PM me later and I will see if I can get you her number. I have it somewhere. Anyhow you can also take a trip to my shop and try the Jewel here I will let you play with it if you'd like. The shop is in Holiday, Fl By New port Richey. So if your close, call me and I'll set you up!

Suesquilts - I'll have to go look at the frame. I have an HQ16 and got the HQ Studio Frame. I can't imagine a better table for a mid-arm so now you've got my curiosity up.
