Sunday January 4th

Post by Sandy5689 » Sun Jan 04, 2009 12:00 am

HURRAY I got to start the sew in.

I had a weird dream so I thought I would get up and walk around for a minute. Then I thought " I am going to check and see if anyone else is up yet" and no one is up but me. That is a good thing because it means everyine else is sleeping peacefully.

And I am going back to bed......

Good Morning! My future DIL (law that sounds strange to me) had to get to the airport early this morning. And it is cold -- I'm going to try to get some sleep until my son gets back. And maybe some organizing of unfinished and future projects (couldn't get into sewing room because it is also the guest room). Have a super day! Lori

I'm up here in NJ but it isn't that early. Thought I would check in here while I am having my coffee. I plan on doing some laundry today and some sewing. I received a new kit I ordered from Ebay in the mail yesterday and am very excited to begin.

When cleaning out my hope chest (where I store ALOT of quilting stuff) I found a Double Irish Chain quilt I was making for my son's girlfriend for her high school graduation present in 2007. It was all done except for three borders. Well they broke up before graduation so I never finished the quilt and just put it away. Now that we have moved my DD's room is the exact color in the quilt. I showed it to her and she wanted it (because she says I never made her a quilt) so yesterday I put the rest of the borders on and am in the process of getting the backing sewn to be big enough and ironed. A UFO will be finished soon.

Although it is sunny here now we are expecting sleet and freezing rain later. My DH is on the road department in our town so if that happens I will be home alone. Sewing room here I come.

Hope everyone has a great day!!! Laura

Good Morning:)
This is my favorite time.... my first cup of coffee on a Sunday, checking in with my forum sisters!!!

It's cold here as usual. We had freezing rain last night- the roads look like an ice rink, and a lot of churches cancelled their services today.

I plan on assembling a log cabin (my first time doing this pattern) today, and hopefully will do some hand quilting this afternoon as I am doing laundry!

Laura I have a UFO Irish Chain too.... has been calling my name. But I plan on hand quilting it, and have to finish another quilt first!!

Good morning!

The coffee just finished brewing and I am getting ready to have a cup. I have to take DD#3 to work in a couple of hours so I need to fix breakfast soon.

I have a wall hanging to finish binding today and some ironing to get done. We are going to visit DD#2 later this afternoon, DH is fixing a couple of things for her and we will have dinner over there.

Good Morning all, I missed you all yesterday but we had a great day...First we went to a Shoe store and I bought a $70 dollar pair of shoes for $20. CUTE Tan slides. Then I bought a pair of Robeez for my grandson for $10 (usually 35) Then we went to the wine and cheese store and DH bought a bottle of wine. And tasted some devine cheeses and sausages. Then off to the quilt store which was packed with people and the lines were long so I didn't buy anything. (I did sniff the cotton though) Will go back there this week to pick up DH ordered a pair of shoes. (13 4E). We then were hungry so we went to Greektown to eat. (thanks for the reminder MM) then we went to the new MGM Grand casino in Detroit. Wow it was beautiful...I went in with $40 and came out with $35. So although I missed you all it was a great day....so today back to the real world...Laundry and ironing for DH has to go back to work tomorrow. bbl

Good Morning from Sunny Minnesota... but don't let the sun fool you... it's only 19* !!! We had the freezing rain here last night so I'm sure the roads are a skating rink this morning!

I HAVE to venture out today to get groceries--not that I'm going to waste away from lack of food, but there's no peanut butter left and the bread is moldy--so it's definately time to restock the cupboards!

Before I head out though I am going to finish a little purse I am making for myself, and a couple little projects and a few more loads of laundry. Managed to finish the Feb Lotto blocks yesterday and need to get those ready to mail to Vicky.

Yesterday I had a wonderful surprise as the FedEx truck pulled up into my driveway!! MY QIAD Order!!! I had placed an order before Christmas but had credit card issues (used the wrong card) Called Karyn in Customer Service on Monday the 29th.. got it fixed (it was totally my fault) and WHAM the order arrived yesterday!!! Is that GREAT service OR WHAT!! QIAD staff... you ROCK!! I got fabric to make a quilt for my grandbaby due in April and tho I hadn't been able to decide to what to make--pink or blue--since we won't know til he/she gets here.... I spotted this fabric "Count Your Blessing" here and KNEW that this was IT! Now I just have to figure out what pattern to make! And don't you that I have enough to make 2 quilts cause you can't just get a little bit!!! You have to get LOTS!!
Yesterday I washed it all and after while today I'll post a photo!

Well, best get butt in gear--the washing machine is calling my name!
(and not very sweetly either--more like "get your fanny down here")

have a great day every one!

Up, showered and drinking my coffee! We leave for the gambling boat in less than 3 hours!! Yippeee! I love the slots!!
ladybess - my son was in the military for 20 years, so my sewing room was always the quest room!! He and his family built a house right around the corner from us 2 yrs. ago, so my sewing room became all mine again!!! So I know what you mean about "getting it back" after someone leaves.
quiltermom91, I shop for fabric on Ebay, too. You can get some really good buys every once in awhile! I'd love to see your quilt when it's done!
quiltnewby05 sounds like a great day to be handquilting!!
grammiequilts, what a wonderful day you had!!
Gotta go eat! I forgot to wash DH's jacket (he frowned!), so it's in the washer now...
