Don't quote me, but I think you can get directions for using the QIAD rulers from the website. As I recall, they were put there to help out those who have the rulers and have lost their instructions. Two squares makes 4 finished geese.

Vicky, Thank you for the address to send these to.
I am off work until Monday Jan 5th so I can't think of a better way to spend it but to make these. When I am finished I will try to post the pics here.

I may have to think about this. I LOVE flying geese -- especially made using the QIAD rulers.

Vivian, I think you just need to use brackets [ ] instead of parentheses ( ) and /img for the end.
There's a video on how to make flying geese on the right side of
http://www.quiltinaday.com/television/' ... elevision/
I tried making geese for the first time yesterday and had some problems with the seams stretching on the bias. Heavy starch seemed to help some, but the "geese" were slightly taller and narrower than the triangle on El's ruler, and they look slightly puckered in the completed block. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Are the geese the center triangles?

Re: January Lotto II
Well, I finally got *flat* flying geese! I switched sewing machines from the 3/4 size Singer to the 1970s Kenmore, lengthened the stitch from 15 per inch (per El's video) to 10 and used the lightest foot pressure that worked. All that lessened the bias stretch, but didn't get rid of it when I used unstarched fabric. A good couple of coats of Best Press and finally flat geese.
I'm not sure what to think about the tea dyed muslin my LQS has. The label said that it was preshrunk, but when I sprayed a square of it with BP and pressed it (not ironed), it shifted into a trapezoid /_/. Strange! It wasn't enough to not use for the geese, but weird, and yes, it was off grain off the bolt.
Vicky, I'll PM you later as to # of blocks.

Re: January Lotto II

I guess I'm in with 2 blocks. I didn't have enough fabric to cut another 9" strip and don't want to mess with other methods. Too much on my plate.
