I just made my first block...... I didn't find a green yet so it's without leaves. I wanted to take a picture and post but batteries are dead :-(

Hey, you all. Before you go to the trouble of making this block, we need to have some decisions made by our hostess about the size. I've PMd her telling her that the pattern for the 10" block is not nearly as large on the 11" background as what the finished quilt is in the picture. See how the leaves actually touch the flower and come to the edge of the block? That isn't going to happen in this case, unless we have this pattern enlarged somewhere besides on our home printers. See how the pattern says it's 7/20th the actual size???
Since we want all of these blocks to be the same, we should hold off until some decisions have been made. Just my opinion, but I think it's a valid one. Vicky has made her first block. What did she do? use the pattern for the 12" block?

I used the pattern for the 10 inch block and they turned out fine. I'm thinking (I could be wrong here) That the 7/20th is the little picture in the corner of the block.

I've finally figured it out. The 7/20 and 29/100 are the sizes of the key photos, where it shows how it is laid out, not of the pattern pieces themselves.

Here's a picture of my finished block minus the leaves. I will be putting them on after I wash the material. They look good to me? What do you think?

Thanks for the pics. This helps a bunch in knowing what they should look like. Now it is my understanding that we are making 9 different blocks and sending them in. Is that right? And making the 10 1/2" blocks? Can't wait to get started then. Bought some floral material from the LQS and some pretty green for the leaves. So here goes...wish me luck.

Vivian,

My nine blocks are all the same, but they don't have to be. Make your background 11 inches to be cut down when they are received. That way if some is taken up with the stitching there's no problem with being too small. Have fun, these were a joy to make.
