You've identifed your two options. If they are still in strip form, how about using them to piece into your backing fabric for 'back art'. Or, if you do scrappy quilts, toss them into your 3 1/2" strip box for use on another project.
My quilt has flying geese made both ways. I ran out of background fabric - but then I only had 1 yard of the background instead of 1 1/4 yards.
After making dozen of flying geese with the QIAD rulers, I have found that my square and rectangle geese are better than they used to be. Still prefer the QIAD ruler, but in a pinch I can do square and rectangle. I haven't ventured out into other methods yet.

Thanks for your reply, Pam. I decided to go ahead and cut the 9" strips so I could use the ruler. That's a good idea to use the strips for the back. If not, yes a scrappy quilt will be in my future.
I just can't believe I did that as I had read your directions a few times when you first put them out so I knew there were 2 sets of cutting instructions. Too many things on my brain I guess. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get more done and will be thinking more clearly.

Finished my flying geese finally.
Now on to the next clue. Anyone else still working on this or is everyone done already?

There were lots of people who said they were going to participate, but only a few who have shown pictures.
Part of that is my fault. I origianlly planed to space the clues out, one a week, but since they were working up so quickly I ended up posting them all in the space of a week.

I am up to my bifocals with grandchildren for 10 days - parents on a well deserved winter holiday. I will have to take a raincheck on this mystery. Checked out the photots and love the choices I've seen.
Happy quilting.
