What kind of Embroidery Thread?

I use "Isacord" brand thread for my embroidery unit. What kind do you use? Do you use a different brand for Metallic?

Other questions have been added so I will repeat. What kinds of things have you embroidered? Everyone always has such wonderful ideas here. What kind of stablizers do you use?

Have you taken classes? What do you want to learn? Where are you taking classes?

I use Marathon. I've never tried metallic thread before. What kinds of things do you make with your embroidery machine?

What a good question! I have only had it for a year and thinking back have embroidered, sometimes monogramming pillowcases and have made angel quilt blocks. What else have you embroidered?

I am so excited to see this topic! I have only had my embroidery machine for a couple of months and have just been experimenting with it. I want to take some classes next year so I can really learn how to use it to its full capacity.

I have been using Guittarmann, Sulky and Maderia. I love the metallic thread and think the brand I have is Coates. I bought lots of thread when Joann's had it on sale for 50% off. I have also learned that collecting thread is just as addictive as collecting fabric for quilting! lol

I was embroidering some bath towels and was getting frustrated with them until I learned about using a "topper". Now they come out beautiful but I need to learn how to center my designs.

I use Madeira and Sulky. I would like to find something less expensive. It does a great job but it is pretty pricey.

In addition to info on the thread I would like information on what kind of stabilizer everyone uses. I purchased Solvy at JoAnn's when it was half price.

I will need more stabilizer and thread very soon. All info is greatly appreciated.

I plan to take embroidery classes after the first of the year so I can learn to use my machine.

I have used Sulky but have also purchased OESD and used both with success.

I also would like to take classes so I will be more proficient at using the embroidery unit. I think I will take a class that is offered online at Quilt University.

I don't use mine as much as I would like to. For one thing the designs have to be put on areader card-and I no longer have a pc with a floppy disc and my cd thing doesn't work. I took my reader card to the dealer and had them install 10 of the ones I thought i would most-and then lost the paper that tells me which ones are which-LOL

What is a "topper"????

The topper is a water soluble filmy stuff that you put on top of fabrics with a deep pile, like towels. It creates a smooth topping for the embroidery stitches to "float" on top and not sink into the pile. It works just great!

The metallics are a little tricky to use. I haven't had much success with them. I read somewhere recently, but don't remember where, that you have to re-route it because too much tension breaks it. If I remember, I'll post the link.

I LOVE my embroidery machine! I've used it for many, many things. I'm trying to upgrade because I can only embroider in a 4 x 4 area with the one I have.

I've only used Sulky for both thread and stabilizers and have had great success. Never have tried a metallic.
