Caroline,

Those "sweet" fabrics *are* pretty hard to find, aren't they!? I have actually seen way more flannel candy fabric than quilting cotton... (Has anyone ever done a flannel swap on here before? I wonder if there would be interest in that?) I can't wait to see your choices!! :-) So far, there is a nice variety in what has been sent---- small print vs. large print, bright vs. pastel, etc! I think this well probably be one of my favorite quilts when it gets made!

While shopping for the fabrics, I keep seeing other things that I want to do a jar quilt with, and dreaming up new swaps! I saw some adorable Russian nesting doll fabric the other day--- how about a "Souvenier Jar Quilt", with each jar representing a different country! :-) Of course there's always the bug quilt.. I like the idea from the link that Jean posted-- everyone sends in a print for a jar that represents something that they'd like to "give" everyone else-- like clocks representing "more time", or hearts representing "love", etc. Or how about an ABC Jar Quilt, with every jar representing a letter of the alphabet... Or just simply a "Things you would find in a jar" quilt with stuff like stamps, marbles, buttons, coins, etc... And, I've got tons of Halloween fabric, and was thinking that a "Witches Kitchen" quilt with jars of bats, skeletons, eyeballs, etc would be so cute for Halloween! My mind works over-time sometimes! LOL

oh Gwen I think I found some I like!!! I bought several different fabric now so I think there will be a variety now in my bags. I found some salted nuts, gummy bears, gumballs and chocolates :)

I like the jar of things to give idea and the "Souvenier Jar Quilt", that would be fun I have been collecting travel fabrics!

Gwen- Yes, your creative mind has been working overtime!!! :-) But I think you came up with a lot of clever ideas for different themed jars! What a ripple effect this candy jar project has had! The ideas just keep on coming...and coming...and coming!

I wanted to let you know that I have my two sets of candy fabrics cut out, bagged, and ready to go in the mail. Now whether I mail them out today or tomorrow depends on how cooperative this Iowa weather will be!!! Either way- I will still get them there in plenty of time before the deadline! ;-)

Can hardly wait to see what sweet treats everyone has contributed! Hugs~Marcia

Carolyn, your fabrics sound GREAT!! I think some salted nuts would be a wonderful addition to all the sweets. I had seen some pretzel fabric and some fortune cookie fabric online that I was very tempted to order1! :-)

Marcia, I send you wishes for good weather! It's supposed to get down to around 23 tomorrow night, and that will probably break the record for that day! I've got to get out and wrap pipes-- been putting it off all day because I *KNOW* I'm going to freeze my hiney off!!! LOL But, every time I start to complain about how cold I am, I remind myself about all you girls up North, and then I realize how NOT cold it really is down here in the South! :-) Stay warm, Y'all! :-)

Here's irony for you Gwen: You are a chilly 23 degrees and I am a FRIGID 23 degrees BELOW ZERO!!!!!! No school again today. (YIKES- that's SIX days of school we have missed since the beginning of December!!!) I won't be headed to the post office today; but perhaps tomorrow I can get these sweet blocks in the mail!
Hugs~Marcia (who is trying to stay warm!)

Marcia---stay warm and cozy inside. I can't believe how cold it is in parts of the country right now and we are unseasonably hot! Wish we could share :)

Update: Judy, I received your 2 sets of charms today and I love them all!!! Still no duplicates, ladies! :-) Everyone has sent such yummy fabrics so far--- and SO beautiful!!!

Marcia, I can't even imagine what 23 below feels like! Oh my goodness!!! SIX days of school! Do the kids have to make the days up later? We have a certain number of "hurricane days" built into the school schedule *just in case*, and if we don't have a hurricane, then the kids get out earlier.

Also, just curious about living in a cold climate--- what about the animals? I'm sure most people either bring their pets inside or provide cover for them, but what about cattle, horses, etc? All the cold weather this year (up North) has got me thinking about all this stuff. (We've actually had unseasonably warm weather until this week. Last week , our highs were in the 70's.)

Oh, YAY, Jean! I was just thinking about M&M's last night and wondering if we would have any in the swap! They are one of my favorite candies-- one of many, I might add! :-)

Come on down! We'll make room! ;-)

Mine are packed and ready to mail :) I had a difficult time selecting fabrics so everyone will be getting three from the following list

gumballs
lollipops
pies
nuts
gummi bears
and chocolates (that look like Sees Candies-they need to be fussy cut)

Hope you don't mind getting an extra fabric in your baggie from me....or in Gwen's case all of them in the baggie tied with a ribbon. thank-you for such a fun swap
