What size triangles?

Post by Suzquilts » Thu Dec 11, 2008 2:45 pm

Friend has a quilt she's doing from a pattern - she added sashings to increase size - blocks are on point - how does she determine size of triangles on sides and top and bottom? Hope this makes sense and thanks!

I would cheat & buy a 'flip-n-set' by Darlene Zimmerman (which I did). It uses strips of fabric instead of a block, has all of the sizes and width of fabric needed on the ruler. It also has the straight edge on the outside of the quilt too. If you don't want to invest in the ruler look in some of El's books that are set on point & use her measurements.

Good luck

This web sign has free Triangle& setting Calculator among other calculators. I downloaded all of them and keep them in a folder I can take with me. http://www.victorianaquiltdesigns.com/' ... signs.com/

Thanks so much ladies. Forwarded your suggestions on to my buddy. Hopefully this will be what she needs so she can finally get this quilt done, it's only been about 3 years!
