Saving your scraps
Be sure to have 2 bins close by when you cut out and sew your blocks. In one, toss the triangles that are left over from making flying geese with a rectangle and 2 corner squares, or the strips from log cabins and other useable pieces. They are big enough to use for something else - check out the baby quilt on the quilt show & tell page where I used triangles for pinwheels. In the other bin, toss scraps to use for fusing and making pictures on cards. Really unusable pieces go in the garbage.

Great idea! I saw your baby quilt & it's cute! I've been saving scraps & leftover triangles, but I don't really know what to do with them so thanks for helping me out.

I save all my scraps too. I keep scraps in a big basket. When the basket gets full I take it to guild and everyone picks out what they like. I love seeing my scrap fabric in the quilts others have made. Much better then having the scraps sitting in my sewing room waiting on me to use them.

Re: Saving your scraps
I make MILE A MINUTE and Tennessee Strings quilt blocks out of my scraps. ( These are frequently I then throw the blocks into a box. When I have enough blocks I make a quilt with them. These are great when you want to do just mindless sewing and just get in the groove

Re: Saving your scraps
I also save my scraps. when I am cutting pieces for other blocks I cut my scraps into squares and rectangles in the size that the scrap is the right size for then I put them in plastic zip bags and label them as to size. The 1" ones I save for a postage stamp quilt, others are 2,3, and 4"ers.Then when I need squares for something they are already to go. Projects I'll probably never get to in my old age.Ha.
