Hey, i'm VERY new to this soooooooooooooo,
any VERY EASY patterns for a newbie?

I would start with El's Log Cabin. It's very easy and give you a sense of accomplishment for the first project.

I would try maybe a nine patch or a rail fence... I have never had luck with the log cabin... I don't know what I do wrong but it never is a nice square cabin.

have you done any sewing? any quistions just ask away... these gals are great and quick to help.....

I'm with sewbug. The log cabin is a good starting place. See if you can get hold of the video, I know some libraries have them.

Hi & welcome! I think a rail fence design as Chriss suggested would be a good quilt to begin with. My first quilt was Winning Hand by Quilt In A Day. It was pretty easy and it came out really nice. I was quite proud of it and it made me want to continue. My first Log Cabin did not come out very well and it wasn't my first quilt either so personally I wouldn't suggest that for a beginner, but many feel that it is a good one to start with. Any of the Quilt In A Day books have really good directions that will make it easier for you. Feel free to ask us questions as you go along.

If you are a beginner beginner, I'd start with a fence rail. It is simply sewing strips together, no turns. Really easy. The main thing to concentrate on is to acquire good habits - Precise cutting and then stitching that perfect 1/4" seam.

Cindy is so right about cutting accuratly and the 1/4 inch seams... another thought I had was to start with something small, like a baby blanket or a table runner... anything too big for your first project is overwhelming and probably won't be finished.

Hi and welcome.. I started with the winning hand. It's in El's book section. It's a lovely quilt, with easy to follow instructions, and works up fast and easy-just pay close attention to the placements of the fabrics. You';ll catch on easy and be amazed you made something so incredible on your first time!!

Welcome new2.....I can't give you advice on what to start with as I made up my own pattern for a baby gift for my first quilt. Come to find out everyone said I was brave because I used diamonds and had to set Y seams, LOL. For me, the biggest hurdle was to just jump in and start cutting that fabric.

Here are a couple of sites that have block patterns so you can search and find something you like to start with. The easiest blocks to do are 9 patch and half square triangles. Good luck
