TooMuchFabric - the best part was seeing my forum friends and spending 3 days with my BFF and two days with Kenderosa. And then there's the shopping. There is quilts hanging in almost every booth and I love looking at all of those. They give me inspiration and they are more on the level of quilts I can make, not the award winning out-of-this-world quilts that I couldn't make if my life depended on it. I have loved batiks for years and, finally, this year it seems the batiks were all the rage. I was glad to see the turn away from 30's repro. And then I got to talk to Eleanor for a few minutes but I didn't take her class this year, we took another class. And we test drove the mid-arms - that was fun but more serious this year than last because this year we bought one. We had some hilarious moments at the Tin Lizzie display - the salesmen were so nice and hilarious. One of them, Adam, was about 37 and he's married to a 67 yr. old woman - seriously. He was new to the job of selling Tin Lizzies and so we broke him in good!!! LOL One of the best things is that everyone in there is there for the same reason - we love to quilt. You can walk into any booth of sit at any table in the lunch room and strike up a conversation about threads, fabric, machines, etc. I recognized a guy but I didn't know from where so I just walked up to their table and asked him who he was. Of course, now I can't remember his name but he was on Alex Anderson's show doing one of her challenges. He was also on her show instructing us how to make a child's growth chart in one day. He now lives in the Houston area and he asked me if I was in a guild. No, I'm not. He told me I should come to the guild he belongs to called Tri-County and, lo and behold, it meets at a Baptist church at the entrance to my subdivision. I was too tired to go last Tuesday and I can't go next month because that's the night of our company Christmas party. But I may go and just try it out after the first of the year. So you asked what is the best part of the quilt show - ALL OF IT. That's why I was bouncing off the walls the whole week before the quilt show. Everything about it is wonderful.

LOL Since it was on Halloween weekend there were some really funny costumes there. A lot of the Vendors dressed up on Halloween as you can tell by the one lady. LOL
My favorite part was like Cindy's....ALL of it! Seeing the QIAD Gals & visiting with them, having dinner with them, meeting Vicky, Kenderosa, Debbielynn, seeing SewSew & her sweet DD enjoy doing Quilting together & attending the Show together, seeing all of the wonderful quilts, seeing some of the Vendors I shop online from, visiting with some of the LA folks I chat with from here & there, shopping, just all of it. It is just a unique experience. You literally just have to go once to know what it is like & get the feeling of it. The atmosphere in itself gives you a "rush or a giddy feeling".
We were out on the balcony on Saturday having a coke break and relaxing. It overlooks a great park across the street. Lots of families were enjoying the beautiful weather & enjoying the afternoon at the park. There was a young man on a blanket dressed in a sports coat, white shirt & tie with a picnic basket & a backpack. Here walks up towards him was a young lady all smiling. He stands up & off to the side was a fella video taping them. The kid in the sports coat drops to one knee & proposes. The lady next to me yells lets clap! SO everyone cheers & claps. They sit on their blanket while he gets out glasses & champagne or wine and they have what looked like choc. cov. strawberries & ? It was so sweet. So that was neat. He then peeled off the jacket, white shirt & tie and had on a dk tee shirt. LOL
It was a GREAT Show & I am still pumped and cannot wait until next year. Sure hope a lot of you can go!!!!!!! Seeing the gorgeous quilts just really inspires you.
