Microwave Baked Potato Bag

Post by shirleyann44 » Wed Oct 29, 2008 3:04 pm

Has anyone made a microwave baked potato bag? I know you are supposed to use a "special" batting and I wondered if it is Insulbright. Any and all tips are appreciated.

Hugs, Shirley

I was just looking these up myself the other day wanting to make some. Everyone that I have reseached has used cotton batting. Makes sense to me, you want it to withstand the heat. Here is one I looked up..I'm not sure if the link will work, (it is an archive link)http://web.archive.org/web/200802021143 ... to_bag.htm

Thanks ever so, the website helped alot and I printed off the instructions which I didn't have--just flying by the seat of my pants so to speak. LOL

Saw these at a craft show Saturday. Was wondering how well they worked. Has anyone actually tried them. Any advantage of using these over oven baking (besides time) or traditional way of putting in microwave?

I saw these last week and thought they looked like a great idea. A lady (customer) said she had used one for quite sometime and thought they were wonderful. They were a bit pricey but I thought I would like to know how to make them. Thanks for starting the thread and the links to the "how to" sites.

Just a warning ladies - My SIL made these for everyone last Christmas - My brother was using his and it caught fire in the microwave. I don't know why it caught fire. She used cotton and cotton batting... just be careful

I first saw this at my aunt's and she said it works well. The pattern on the link does come with a disclaimer so it does bear watching. It will interesting to see if there is any advantage over the traditional microwave method. I would like to make these as small Christmas gifts, so I do hope it goes well.

Thanks for all your input. I read the forum daily, but don't write much. I guess I need to get over my shyness.

Hugs to all, Shirley
