Nine patch question

Post by Chrissy1 »

This week I took out some fabrics from my stash (I have had a stash for a long time, just no confidence in using it). ANyway, I was going to do a disappearing nine patch. I got a bunch of squares sewn, enough to make a lap quilt. I have a lot of yellow blocks and dark blocks with black background (like the mary engelbriet home sweet home) and also one that has little yellow sunshines and fireflys. I did the center of each nine patch in a matching color. Now I don't know if I should take the plunge and cut them or if I should sew the nine patches together with strips? If I sew it together with strips? Does anyone else get this confused or is it becasue I am still home and not back to work yet. Any help would be greatly appreciate. thank you

Chrissy, I think you should go ahead and take the plunge and make the disappearing nine patch. I think you will be very happy with it.

Heavens sake, girl. Make it easy on yourself! Make the 9 patches with strips! Cut 2 types for each square... X/O/X and O/X/O. It you cut or tear your strips 2 1/2", then cut your strips across at 2 1/2". It's so easy. Trying to get those squares stitched 1 by 1 would give anyone a headache trying to keep them straight.
