Fall Twisted Bargello

Post by SewSassyNClassy » Tue Sep 16, 2008 5:05 am

The name of this pattern is Twisted Bargello by Chris Timmins. I selected the border fabric first, then added the companion fabrics. For those of you who have not tried a bargello, this is truly a quilt that looks hard but is not.

The center is made up of 1,750 pieces.

The pattern calls for 20 different fabrics. I wanted to really accentuate the border fabric so I used it twice, in the center. Using 1.5 inch strips I sewed 5 sets of strips, fabrics 1- 10 and 11 - 20. I knew having perfect strip sets, and pressing according to the directions, was the key to this pattern, so I sewed one or two strips together at the beginning of each day that I sat down at my sewing machine. Then I worked on a different project. Slowly my strip sets came together. I think I would have lost interest and not have been as accurate if I sat down and sewed all the strips in a day or two. Once the strip sets were assembled it only took me a week to cut and sew together the center piece. The strips along the side were leftovers. The width of the cuts ranged from 3/4 an inch to 2 inches.

It was hand quilted by someone in my quilt club.

It is stunning! Very beautiful job-love the colors, the designs & the quilting! Are you sure it isn't hard?? How long did it take you to make the bargello part? It looks like lots of little pieces. No matter how long it took you-it was worth it!

Fantastic Quilt! The colors are very nice. I really want to do one of these, but afraid it takes more concentration than I have to give right now. All those strips in the right order.

You did a wonderful job..............
Have Fun,

All I can say is WOW! This is beautiful. The piecing looks so difficult. The quilting on it is so wonderful. Thank you for sharing this wonderful quilt with us.
