Pink baby quilt pattern picture with cutting sizes

Post by calicopuzzle » Mon Sep 15, 2008 4:37 pm

I did this on EQ, so the pattern is just one that I did with the software. Here is the simple pattern and the layout can be any direction you want to turn the blocks. My blocks were made 6" finished and the strips of fabric were cut at 2-1/2" wide. The quilt finished at around 43" square, but you can make it any size you want by adding blocks. Any questions...pm me.

This block finishes at 6-1/2" for a 6" block for quilt. Sorry I previously said it was 8"....a blunder! :(

Cut the first 2 center squares 2-1/2" x 2-1/2",
Cut the next 2 strips 2-1/2" x 4-1/2",
Cut the last strip ..(the longest strip) 2-1/2" x 6-1/2"
I chose 5 fabrics to use and then used them in the same position in the block. You can experiment or do the same.

Hope this helps and sorry for the confusion.

Calico,
Thanks for sharing this beautiful pattern with us. I plan to make up a few baby quilts to have on hand. Seems lots of my friends are having grandbabies.LOL I think I will try it in blues and greens for a boy. I have EQ6 too, but still have to go pretty slow when I work with it. I do love the program, though.

Thanks calicopuzzle!! How nice of you to give us a free pattern! :) This would be a great way to use my noodles. I'm definitely going to try it. Thanks again!

calicopuzzle,
Can you give me an idea of about how much fabric you used for the backing? Was it less than 3 yards?

Thanks.

Someone asked how much backing fabric would be needed for this quilt. The quilt measured 43"x43" approximately when finished. A width of fabric is usually 44", so that would be just one width of fabric by 44" in length.....just over a yard. It all depends on how big you want to make the quilt.

Calico, once again, thank you for sharing all the information - a colleague of mine is expecting a baby next spring so I will be looking for a simple, quick and good looking baby quilt pattern ...
