Sandy, you should have seen my first quilt top. I think anything made with love is beautiful and your mother will love it no matter what.

You should''''ve seen my first stab at triangles!! The other ladies are right; this is a beautiful quilt, made with love and given in love. Please, don''''t be so hard on yourself. You do learn more as you go along, it will happen. One tip I might offer, as it made all the difference in my future quilts is to religiously use your square up rulers on every unit before attaching them to the next one. I think you will find that step as well as cutting accuracy, 1/4" seam or scant 1/4" seam, and pressing will go a LONG way to future successes.

I remember my first "student" asked me if all that really mattered? She was in the middle of a queen size quilt (her first project!), and saw an enormous difference by the end of her quilt when putting the above into use. You''''re doing a great job! Keep asking questions, keep reading and by all means keep quilting!! It does get better!

Happy quilting!

I like it! The fabrics are pretty and your quilting looks good too. I know your mom will love it and it will keep her warm this winter. I can really be critical of my piecing & quilting, but in the end, I'm always happy (maybe not thrilled, but happy) with my finished quilt. I've learned to look at the "big picture" and not the details...unless I'm at a quilt show. LOL You did great and you'll learn lessons from every quilt. That's the fun & challenging part of this hobby.

Sandy, I think it's pretty! I can see a couple glitches, but I had to search for them...honest! No one is really going to notice it while it's in use, anyway, and it's a gift for a loved one who will treasure it regardless.

If it's bumpy, rather than torturing yourself with machine quilting, you may want to consider tying it instead. Gives it a charming touch, and you won't have to shove it under the machine. Just a thought.

I am not overly fond of triangles, but if you ever want to do Flying Geese again, QIAD's rulers are a Godsend! The geese all come out the same size and are much easier to work with. (Take it from one who made a table runner bordered in little geese...24 down one edge and 24 down the other, and they all looked great! Needless to say, I was delighted!)

Sandy, please don't work yourself up over this quilt. I think it's wonderful. Your mom will love it because YOU made it! Any quilt that is made with LOVE is flawless.

It is made with love. As long as the mistakes are not a matter of life or death it doesn't matter. I am sure we all have quilts with mistakes in them, I know I have!!
My criteria is the man on the galloping horse passing by, he certainly won't see them!!

Sandy, unless you enter it in the fair or a quilt show no one is going to look at it as closely as you do..... actually, I think it is great... the pattern keeps the eye moving and the fabric is adorable.... goes real good together.... Your mom will be thrilled to have that quilt and she is already blessed with a daughter who cares enough to give her one.....

don't be so hard on your self.

Sandy I keep coming back here to look at your quilt. Honestly it is a very well made first quilt. I think you deserve an A for attempting this pattern as your first. As said by the others, we are our own worst critics. And my first quilt top is no where as good as yours I can assure you. But? It was my first. And I did do it. So what if some of your pcs aren't perfectly alligned. Your Mom will love it dearly because her wonderful daughter made it with love for her. That is what really matters. I've made quilts and they had flaws & imperfections but the recipients just loved the dickens out of them because I took my time and made them a quilt because I love them. A gift of love. That is what it is all about. With each and every quilt you make you will learn something. There is ALWAYS something to learn about making a quilt! Always something. So get back on your saddle and ride again. You have proved that you can make a quilt! So look out world at all of the possabilities now ahead of you!!!LOL The fun is just now beginning. And I think your quilt is beautiful. I really & truly do! So get after it Girlfriend, there are so many quilts to make that the decision as to which will be next is just daunting. LOL

Hugs & Love

Sandy, I like your quilt. I haven't made one yet that came out 'perfect'. It is made with love and that is what counts. As others have said it is a learning experience and each one completed teaches us new, different, and exciting ways to complete the next one.
