Here is the other side of my room. The quilt blocks on the wall is one I'm helping a friend make for the local Humane Society fundraiser.

sewbug, love your design walls! How did you make them? I ended up taking a big piece of batting and hung it on the wall with thumb nails. It's working out really well and I can take it down easily if needed.
Also, I love your blocks for the Humane Society (an organization close to my heart). It looks like you have real photos of animals on those. Very nice!

The wall is two pieces of insulation styrofoam stuff from Lowes, about $4 for a 4 x 8 piece. I stapled felt over each board and then stapled it to the wall with a staple gun. The boards are very lightweight, they have a silver plastic film on one side, I put that side to the wall. I cut one board in half and made one half a bulletin board coverd in felt for the sewing room. It holds gads of stuff using regular pins. The other half I cut making two smaller boards covered in felt for small block arranging.

Great room! I love how you did your design wall. I only have a small space so maybe a half of sheet would work for me.

I fold the fabric long ways in fourths it is already folded in half on the bolt. then I take a 6 inch ruler and fold the fabric around the ruler so each fold is 6 inches wide. When the entire lengh is on the ruler you slide it out and you have a folded fabric. you can look at the end and count the folds and you can estimate the amount of fabric you have without unfolding every piece. The noise it makes when you fold it over the ruler .....Whomp whomp whomp ( I swear) At one of the quilt shows they were selling cardboard inserts but this way it is free. If you go to photos and look up an old thread about sewing rooms My room is in there and the fabric on my cabinet is whompped. I know it sounds dumb but I have all my guild sisters and my own sister doing it My sis stacks hers up on shelves like books

That's how I fold my fabric too. I use the long six inch ruler. It really makes a difference in how compact you can fold the fabric. Be sure the selvedge edges are along one side, it makes it easy to unfold only what you need when cutting.

Grammie that is soooo cool!!! Now I have to go upstairs and start refolding all my stash! LOL I think I really am going to do that! I've been trying to figure out how to uniformly fold my fabric for ages.
Thanks a bunch!
