A few more quilts from Western Legends

Post by CoyoteQuilts » Mon Aug 25, 2008 4:37 pm

I had a hard time picking a 'winning' quilt. It was a toss up between these 2. I am sorry the color is so bad on the wedding ring. It had a white background, hand embroidered & machine pieced and quilted. The dresden plate was hand appliqued & machine pieced and quilted. I picked the wedding ring one.

This quilt was put together using old blocks. It looked like they had been pulled every which way & they probably would have looked better if the person putting it together had starched the blocks before trying to work with the. It passed the 10 mile rule though.

I hope you enjoyed these. It was fun to see what a small town likes in the way of quilts. This is the one I was working on last week. It was for a grandson that just started to read. His 6th birthday is in 2 weeks. I challenged him when he read 150 books I would make him a new Star Wars quilt. He hit his mark a month earlier than I thought he would. He was quite happy with it.

I agree with the top two choices. The Dresden plate is great and colorful. But my first loved obsession is embroidery. My second love is quilting. So I guess I would have to vote for the embroidery quilt.

More beautiful quilts! I really like the dresden plate quilt-such cute fabrics! Great job on the Star Wars quilt! It looks like your DGS loved it and what little boy wouldn't?!! Smart idea to challenge him to read 150 books for a quilt. :)
